LM139A-MIL: Wafer Questions

Part Number: LM139A-MIL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM139A

We are using 5692-8773901DA (flatpack) and 5692-87739012A (LLCC) in our assemblies.  The flatpack version has been on current production and we have not had any issues.  The LLCC package is being used on a new design with the same function as the previous part.  When we decapped the parts we noticed a slight change in the color of the die between the flatpack (red) and the LLCC (purple).

We are looking to get some information on the wafer.  Did these wafers come from the same FAB sight?  What was the wafer lot?

  • Hello Christopher,

It cold be that one device is a Native TI die and the other is a ex-National die.

    From what I see:

5962-87739012A = LM139AFKB =  Native TI die from SFAB (Sherman Fab) and is a current orderable part# from TI.

    However:

5962-8773901DA is a DLA number and you may receive either a LM139AW-SMD or LM139AWB - and there is a difference.

The LM139AW-SMD is the ex-National die from GFAB (UK Fab).

The LM139AWB is the native TI SFAB die - same die as the 5962-87739012A.

You can look up lot reports for MIL devices in the QCI system:

    Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI)

    3B-S THA Q 5962-87739012A LM139AFKB 2346C = https://qci.itg.ti.com/qci/showPCR?qaLotnbr=3010956 = TI die

    3A-S 2316A 5962-8773901DA LM139A WB (delta) THA Q = https://qci.itg.ti.com/qci/showPCR?qaLotnbr=3003829 = TI die

According to the lot reports, and the build sheets, the die should be the same. Under a microscope, you should be able to see the die ID on the die. They should be identical.

I'm not sure why you would see a difference in die color....never had anyone mention that...
