TLV3605: Clock comparator

Part Number: TLV3605
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV1871, TLV9030L, TL3116, TLV3603

Hello Team,

I am looking for the clocked comparator is there any product that can be used for the Automotive application. Below are the specfication of the clock comparator.

Vin=+/- 5V or +/-10V

Vout=5V

Propagation delay= less then 50nS

rail to rail output

latch and reset circuit functionality

Thank you in advance.

Best Regrds,

Suma D

  • Hello Suma,

    Can the ±10V Vin be attenuated? That would increase the available options (TLV360x family).

    ±10V is a very large signal. Is this a bipolar signal or differential?

    Devices with 50ns and below will be lower voltage due the device sizes needed for high speed.

    See the TLV1871 - it is a 40V comparator with separate input and output power supplies. It could handle the ±10V and still output 0 to 5V.

     TLV1871

    With a 10V input drive...the response time will be in the 50ns range (see the datasheet graphs 5-23 and 5-24).

  • Hello Grohe,

    Thank you for your response. I am looking for a high-speed comparator with a response time below 50 ns, operating with an input voltage range of ±5 V, priced around 0.20 Euro. The comparator should have latch and reset functionality suitable for automotive applications.

    Best Regards,

    Suma

  • Hello Suma,

    Is that a *bipolar* +5 to -5V signal? Going below ground?

    What is the application?

    Can the input signal be attenuated or level-shifted?

    Pretty much anything 50ns and below are going to be single 5V supply devices (or ±2.5V split). Fast and large otuput swings are mutually exclusive (i=C*di/dt). Outputs are going to be either 5V logic or LVDS/CML.

    Also be aware of the *differential* input voltage limitation. Some high-speed comparators cannot have more than 5V across the inputs.

    We do have a new latching family, the TLV9030L self-latching family, but it is 125ns and 5V.

    TLV902xL and TLV903xL Precision, Self-Latching Comparator Family datasheet (Rev. A)

    The above are the only devices with self-latching.

    For other latches, see the TL3116 or TLV3603/5/7.
