offset trim of op-amp OPA 277

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA277

1. In op-amp OPA277 pin 1 and 8 are used for offset trimming. but if connects these pins either with Vcc or with GND during operation... Will it affect the output performance of op-amp  &  WHY ?

2. Can I achieve an ideal Op-amp (having zero offset) using offset trimming pins ?

  • Akhilesh,

Do not connect the trim pins to Vcc or ground. Offset voltage is sufficiently low that trimming is not required in most applications. If trimming is required, use the potentiometer circuit shown in the data sheet. If not used, leave these pins disconnected.

Op amps use different techniques internally to accomplish external trimming. The behavior, if misused, can vary considerably, depending on the op amp. If you are trimming with a potentiometer, follow the data sheet recommendations for the specific op amp. If you are not trimming, leave the trim pins disconnected.
