LM2903: LM2903 abnormal output

Part Number: LM2903

Hi

We found that the output is 2.5 V (instead of 0 V or 5 V) with the setup below.

Is this caused by the IN− level?

The simulation result appears abnormal, but the real circuit works fine.

Is there any potential risk with this setup?

  • Mark, thanks for your post

the model intentionally does that at the output as a warning that you’re violating the common mode limit of VCC -2v.
While it’s not ideal, the comparator output will be valid as long as one input is within the range of VCC-2.
