Single supply opamp voltage range

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM339

In datasheet of opamp voltage is specified by +-15V. (for dual supply it can be anything +-16,18 etc). when we use single supply by tie -VEE to ground. DO range increases to double i.e 30V in above case. In LM339 datasheet, range is +-18V or 2-36V DC.

  • Hi Ankur,

The supply range doesn't double; it remains the same, but the supply voltages applied to the device can be slid up or down. For example, if the negative supply is specified as -15V and the device is operated with 0V, then the positive supply must be moved from +15V to +30V for the same electrical performance. The difference in the voltage between the two supply pins is the same in either case (30V). Keep in mind that the input and output voltage ranges will track the supply voltages used.
