TLV3607: Design Inquiries

Part Number: TLV3607
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV3901

Design Inquiries

I am doing a design review with TLV3607.
I designed the circuit, but I want to cross check if there are any problems.

1. A random pulse signal is input as IN+A.
2. REFERENCE +1.0V is entered as IN-A.
3. VOCM=+1.2V and VOD=+300~400mV are output as OUT+A/OUT-A.
4. I use the Latch function.
5. Port B is treated as an option.
6. R302, R293 are for debugging purposes.

7. Is it okay to input -Voltage(ex:-2.0V) from the above circuit to the IN+A port?
8. If +3.3V is supplied to /SHDN pin, is there no problem?

9. Is there no problem connecting TLV3607 output to CML input? Is there a recommended way to use it like this?

If there is anything you would like to advise, please reply.

Thank you.

  • Hello Hyunkyu,

Please see the TLV3901, as it has a true CML output and latch.

    1,2,3 - OK.

    4. TLV3901 also has a latch.

    5. Bias the B inputs to fix the output condition. Do not let float.

6.? Do not see these resistors in the schematic...

    7. No. VEE - (0.2V) max... so -0.2V max. No comparator will accept -2V.

    8. VCCO + 0.3V max

9.No. LVDS and CML are different standards. LVDS is a 100 ohm termination across the inputs, CML is 50 ohms termination to Vterm. See TLV3901.

Please see the following appnote, pages 9-10:

    Comparator Output Types

LVDS terminations are between the outputs (100 ohms deferentially between pins 11 and 12 at the receiver), not to ground.

R530 and R531 are not correct (DNP). There needs to be 100 ohms *between* the outputs (pins 11 and 12) *at* the receiving end.
