TAS2563: EM emission around 12MHz

Hello TI team,

I'd like to ask regarding EM emission that is generated by TAS2563 chip. Currently, whenever the smart amp is working, 12.x Mhz emission can be measured around the chip. We have detected this both in our prototype (PCB) and also the TAS2563 EVM. 

Is there a way to reduce the emission, by changing some register values or by changing surrounding component designs around the chip?

  • Hi Steve,

    There is a spread spectrum feature in TAS2563 Class-D configuration, however this is enabled by default. You may still double check that this is enabled; the control register name is AMP_SS located in Book 0 Page 0 Register 0x04 bit 2.

    You may also check if CLASSD_SYNC feature would help in this case located in Book 0 Page 0 Register 0x06 bit 6.

    Other than that, the possible workaround is adding ferrite bead or LC filter at the output of the amplifier.
