INA228: INA228 vs. INA4230

Part Number: INA228
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA4230, INA4235

Hi,

We design a circuit with the following specifications:

  • Ultra low power consumption (in standby, when measurements are off)
  • Measure 3 voltage rails:
    • 4-15 V
    • 4-15 V
    • 2-3.6 V
  • Voltage measurement: max. 5 mV error or better
  • Current measurement at 3.6 V rail, 0...600 mA
  • Current measurement: resolution of 10 uA or better
  • Accumulated charge / energy tracking (coulomb counting) to gauge battery state

INA228 seems perfect, offering very high precision/resolution, but only 1 voltage channel (VBUS).

INA4230 offers 4 channels, but lower precision/resolution.

Question:

  1. Is there a 3-4 channel device with the specs of the INA228?
  2. Is a device planned for future production?
  3. Suggested solution?

Thank you for you support!

  • Hello Jonas,

No, we do not have a multi channel version of the INA228, or any 20-bit multi-channel devices (and none coming out shortly). As an FYI, there is the INA4235, which his higher accuracy than the INA4230, but these 4 channel devices only have energy accumulation (not charge). If you need coulomb counting and maximum accuracy, then the INA228 is the way to go.

    Regards,
