INA849: Analog potentiometer to control gain

I'm designing a simple mircrophone preamp to use with dynamic microphones using this IC, following the datasheet schematic but I'm not sure about how to implement the control of the gain on Rg, and what kind of potentiometer would give me the best response. Could you help me with that?

Hi Alvaro,

I have a few questions.

Is a manual (where someone manually adjusts it) potentiometer acceptable?

Was there a reason that you wanted to use a potentiometer rather than using a programmable gain amplifier?

Manual control is mandatory not only acceptable, I would prefer it over a PGA for simplicity basically, maybe Im wrong.

Hi Alvaro,

Thank you for the information.

I'd recommend choosing a potentiometer that would be a small form factor that would allow you to place it as close to the RG pins of the device and choosing one with relatively low drift compared to other potentiometers.
