XTR111: XTR111 and HART application

Part Number: XTR111

XTR111 is used to generate a 0–20 mA output, and a HART signal is superimposed on top of it for the HART design.

  1. Does the XTR111 support HART?
  2. What risks and disadvantages are there when designing HART based on the XTR111?
  3. Are there any other recommended options for HART applications?
  • Hi Kevin,

It is not recommended to use XTR111 with HART protocol due to the internal chopping current-mirror architecture the device uses. This switching frequency will interfere with HART communication.

I recommend instead using the XTR200, which does not have this architecture and can be used with HART protocol.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
    Thank you!

    Best regards,
    Ashley
