TAS2563: VDD Power Consumption Optimization

Part Number: TAS2563

According to the datasheet, the amplifier consumes around 4 mA from VBAT and 11–12 mA from VDD during active operation, resulting in approximately 15–16 mA per amplifier. With two amplifiers in stereo mode, we observe around 30–32 mA total active current. Is this the expected behavior?

We know disabling the I/V sense can reduce the current by about 2 mA per amplifier. Are there any other settings or recommendations to significantly reduce the active current, such as lowering the boost voltage (e.g., from 12 V to 6 V) or other power optimization options? Is there Any Blocks I can Disable to reduce VDD power

  • Hi Siddarth,

You can try disabling boost and using external PVDD as low as VBAT, as long as PVDD >= VBAT is satisfied. The datasheet current consumption values are taken in ROM mode where the DSP features are turned off. Once the DSP is on, disabling/enabling blocks does not affect the overall current consumption. VBAT consumption would depend on the output level.
