OPA4350: Temp range

1. Could you clarify the practical difference between the “specified temperature range” (−40°C to +85°C) and the “operating temperature range” (−55°C to +150°C)? Our understanding is that the electrical characteristics (Vos, CMRR, AOL, noise, gain bandwidth, etc.) are only guaranteed within −40°C to +85°C, while −55°C to +150°C only indicates the device will function without damage, without guaranteed parametric performance — please confirm if this understanding is correct.

2. For our application, can we rely on the device operating normally across the full −55°C to +150°C range? If so, is there any characterization data, typical performance curves, or derating guidance available for operation outside the specified −40°C to +85°C range?

3. If parametric performance is not guaranteed beyond −40°C to +85°C, what margin/risk should we account for if our application requires operation closer to the extremes of the operating range?

    Correct. Customer is on their own when "off-roading".

    We do not provide any data or behavior beyond the specified range in the datasheet. If we did, that becomes a implied guarantee - it's a legal thing. 

    3. If parametric performance is not guaranteed beyond −40°C to +85°C, what margin/risk should we account for if our application requires operation closer to the extremes of the operating range?

    Hard to say...Depends on the device and where performance falls off.

    Note that there are some graphs in the datasheet up to 125°C, so the designers were confident of operation up to 125°C.

    But at 90°C...I would not loose any sleep.:^)

  • Is there p2p device above to operate above 105degree and it is specified in d/s? Thanks!
