Hello All,

I got a Burr Brown High Side Current Monitor INA139P amp that is in a now obsolete package, namely an 8 Pin Dip. Burr Brown was sold to Texas Instruments , and they only have data sheets on the current version. An email to tech support was unsuccessful. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Hello Brian,

Are you looking to upgrade the INA139 to a new product or are you looking for a drop-in replacement in an 8-pin DIP package?

I just looked through the parametric search and we do not have any 8-pin DIP package current-shunt monitors that would be drop-in replacements.

Hi Collin,

Thanks for replying. I'm looking for a drop-in replacement in an DIP package. As you mentioned, there is no DIP package monitors currently. So I googled and bought a current sensor in DIP package from http://www.westfloridacomponents.com/IC307PE08/INA139P+INA139+P+Current+Shunt+Monitor+IC+Burr+Brown.html. Unfortunately, I cannot find any datasheet or pinout.

Hi Brian,

Below is a link to the INA139 datasheet, there is no mention of a 8-DIP package:

I also looked through the archive system we use and there is no mention of an 8-DIP version of this product even from the earliest datasheet previews. Therefore, I seriously question the authenticity of these devices and would not recommend them for use. Always purchase Texas Instruments components through an authorized distributor.

Brian and Collin,

I agree. I just checked our paper archives and cannot find any record that a DIP version of the INA139 ever existed. Release of the product in December 2000 had only the SOT23 package. This agrees with my own memory of the project and I was personally involved at the time.

Hello Brian,

I know this problem - I ran into the same issue ~4 years ago. I brought 139P for a home project and I couldn’t find the pin out in the DS. I asked for support and I couldn’t get any help from any one. The pin out of INA139P (DIP) is not same as INA139Q1 or any other pin outs in any of the DS available on the TI website or on the web. I reverse engineered INA139P and found out the correct pin out for INA139P by trail and error method. I have used this pin out (shown below) and it is working perfectly for the past 4 years. As I am not officially responsible for this product (Iam a System Eng for DDR memory support compoents) - please test or use at your own risk.
