providing return path to output current

I have read somewhere that it is always advisable to provide shortest return path to output current so that current supplied by the power supply will easily flow back to power supply. I have seen some circuit in which output is connected to high impedance load. I think, it is common practice to connect output to voltage follower. can someone please clarify the matter?

  • Chirag,

The path required for returning load current is a concern when that current is a significantly high value. If little or no load current is flowing then the return current path is of little concern.
