PA12A or OPA512SM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA541

Trying to source Op-amp PA12A, found out that there's a suitable replacement in an OPA512SM.

Could anyone point me to a supplier or another suitable replacement for a PA12A?

  • Hi Brian,

Also see the OPA541, though the supply voltage is not as high and the BW is lower.

    Regards,

  • Thanks Paul

The pin out on the OPA541 is different from the PA12A or OPA512

Needs to be the same as I'm trying to repair a PCB

    Regards, Brian.

  • Hi Brian,

The OPA512SM is at least 20 years old and as you may know not recommended for new designs (NRND). The product is no longer being manufactured and the only product available is from new-old stock (NOS) suppliers. A search on line will provide provide some of those suppliers and that may keep you in supply for a while, but you might want to consider a redesign with a more modern product because the supply of NOS product is limited.

Paul suggested the OPA541 and that may be a good redesign choice. It is a monolithic, high-power operational amplifier while the PA12A and OPA512SM are multi-chip hybrid circuit devices. I expect the OPA541 would provide a significant cost advantage over these older products in a similar application role.

    Regards, Thomas
