Crossover Distortion OPA277 vs OP77

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA277, OPA177, OP07

Does the OPA277 offer the same gain performance as the OP77?  My application requires an amplifier  with no or minimal crossover distortion.  The OP77 advertised this feature as one of its strengths (OP77 Rev E datasheet page 10).  Does the OPA277 offer no or minimum crossover distortion?

The OPA177 circuit looks pretty much like the OP77 circuit.  If the OPA277 does not work out for me can I assume the OPA177 will perform better?

Sorry for bringing op the other company's products.  For the record I believe Burr Brown parts are better.

  • Hassan,

I'm familiar with the descriptions of low crossover effects in the OP77 data sheet. The OP77 was a second-generation device and made improvements over the previous generation, the OP07.

The OPA277 is a third-generation device with all the benefits of the OP77 and more. The OPA277 has improved input and output voltage range and improved phase compensation techniques.

    Regards, Bruce.
