TLV3012 reference cap load

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV3012

The TLV3012 is rated for up to 10nF capacitive load on the reference terminal.

What is the minimum output series resistance that I need to drive 100nF load without oscillation?

Peter

  • Hi Peter,

The TLV3012 internal reference uses a low current, complementary drain-drain output stage whos complex output impedance changes with the level of current being delivered to the load. The output stage is suitable for driving the maximum rated CL of 10 nF, but likely not much more if stability is to be maintained. It hasn't been characterized with a CL of 100 nF. Therefore, we cannot recommend a specific series resistance that will assure the reference amplifier remains stable under all combinations of supply levels, output current demands, temperature and manufacturing variations.

    Regards, Thomas
