INA 136/8

I need to filter the output of this current sense amplifier and also provide a simple peak hold.  I am thinking of putting a couple of uF in parallel with the load resistor.  I have two questions:

1) Will the device be stable with a large capacitive load or do I need to add some isolation resistance?

2) There is the possibility that the output transistor will have its emitter base junction reverse biased (only by 3.6v) is this a problem?

    Can you please give us a little more information about your application?  Can you share your schematic?  Also, what is the scenario for #2?

    In the meantime, my general opinion is that a more robust solution would be to use an op amp in an Riso with dual feedback configuration to drive your large cap load.  For more info on such a circuit, please read part 10 of the following article series:

  • Thanks, but I'd rather stick with my existing topology.  The base emitter junction of the output device could be reversed biased at power down as the rails may decay faster than the load capacitor
