ADS1292 for ECG application

It says on the data sheet and ECG and EEG applications Quick reference Guide that ADS1292 is a complete AFE for ECG applications and I was lead to believe that it is a better option than discrete components like INA333 and etc. After reading the topics in the forums i am a bit confused. I thought no external amplifiers, low-pass filter or high-pass filter would be required to achieve typical ECG signal with bandwidth of 0.05Hz to 100Hz. 

Could anyone shed some light on this please?

    The ADS1292 is an excellent and very complete solution for ECG signal acquisition. There may be no one "best way" to create an ECG front end. There are compromises and tradeoffs in any approach. Systems continue to be designed using a more discrete approach that may allow flexibility in the design that suits the special needs of the equipment or application.

    The ADS1292 does not require additional input amplifiers. For support of the ADS1292, please post to the Precision Data Converter forum.
