If the FET shorting mode is enabled, does that mean that the FET will short while LMP is powered, or when power is removed from LMP?

I wasn't aware of a FET shorting mode on the LMP91000?

I know the evaluation board has an option for an external p-type FET to short the Reference and Working electrodes when the circuit isn't powered.

Bit 7 of Mode Control Register (MODECN) enables or disables FET shorting. On the system block diagram, it is shown as a switch between RE and WE.

I wonder why the external FET option on the eval board.
