Multi-Cal-PGA309 current output issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MULTI-CAL-SYSTEM, PGA309, XTR117

Hi, My name is Daeyoun Yun.

I'm using the Multi-Cal-System and PGA309.

When performing the current output(two-wire current output) by using a real-world pressure sensor that is built in PGA309,

what should I do connected in Multi-Cal-Interface PCA EVM?

For example, Vpos -> Vcc, Vneg -> GND, ONE -> Program, etc.

  • Hi Daeyoun,

As you said, you would like to test the current output mode with a real sensor.

The connection between your PGA309 Board (with real sensor) and Multi-cal-interface PCA EVM should be as below:

    Vout - NC

GND - connect to the GND of your PGA309 Board

Neg - Negative loop power supply (-) connect to Io(XTR117 pin 4) of your PGA309 Board

Pos - Positive loop power supply (+) connect to Vloop(XTR117 pin 7) of your PGA309 Board

ONE - One wire connect to one wire(PGA309 pin 12) communication interface of your PGA309 Board

    Best Regards!

  • Hi Daeyoun,

Also I have a simple presentation should be helpful to give you a overall understand the hardware and software setup.

Any update, pls feel free to let us know!

    Best Regards!

  • Hi, Iven.

Thank you for your reply and your advice helped me a lot.

    Um... I have any questions.

Currently, output value of the pressure sensor is 1-5V.

And I respect the Iout is 4-20mA but 8-30mA.

The setting of the resistor, I seem to have no abnormal to think.

If the output value of the pressure sensor is 8-30mA, it can be converted to 4-20mA through the calibration?

  • Hi Daeyoun,

I think the sentence you mentioned, "output value of the pressure sensor is 1-5V", should be the output value of the PGA309 not the output of the pressure sensor, right?

If my understanding is correct, the 8-30mA (Iout) can be calibrated to 4-20mA.

    Best Regards!

  • Hi, Iven.

    Problem occurr during the calibration.

First Cal Status(Start : Fast Scan, End : Done Initial Cal) step was calibrated to 4-20mA.

But, Over Temp Status step calibration is fail.

Note that the calibration is one-point temperature calibration(25 Celsius degrees)  so, Over Temp Status is equal to the First Cal Status.

Max current was calibrated to 20mA, but minimum current can not be calibrated to 4mA.

Minimum current was calibrated to over 5mA.

    I don't understanding...
