OPAMP Buffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4631, LMH6657, THS4221

I need to use an op-amp as a buffer on my board, but i must use it in unity gain configuration. it must have a transition time of  <6nS ( slew of >500V/uS)

I looked at  THS4631 but it has the required slew at G=5 setting.

Is there a better op-amp available?

  • Hi Pavan,

Could you provide us information on the supply voltage requirement and bandwidth of the Op-amp you are looking at?

    Thanks,

    Rohit

  • Rohit,

I will be using this opamp as a buffer to measure the rise and fall time of my device on ATE. The buffer will enable me to isolate unwanted capacitance while still maintaining my input, my device has a fast rise time of ~5nS and i need the opamp to be faster than that.

Supply voltage will not be an issue here since i can control it on my ATE.

The i/p signal will be ~1MHz

  • Hi Pavan,

You could use LMH6657/8 single and dual respectively. I believe other parts could perform the same under unity gain configuration. Its just that they have been specd at G = +2V/V. LMH6657/8 has Slew rate of 700V/us and Trise/fall = 3.3ns. The 3dB bandwidth is 270MHz. The other option is THS4221/2 which has a slew rate of 975V/us in unity gain configuration. There is no information for trise/fall time though on the datasheet. I hope that helps.
