INA195 temp range

Can you clarify a couple of statements in the datasheet - http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/sbos307f/sbos307f.pdf

In the description on page 1 there is a statement saying that the part operates form -40 to -125C and some of the graphs such as fig. 7 and fig. 10 show plots at -40. However the absolute maximum ratings section the operating  temp is -55 - 150C as is the the packaging info on page 24.

This is an Aerospace application and I need to operate at -55 I have a 3.3V supply. Are there specs at -55 or is there an identical part that is EP rated?

    The way I read the accumulated temperature spec info in the Data sheet is that the specifications apply when operated in Ta = -40 to +125 deg. C ambient but the device can operate (without damage) in a Ta = -55 to +150 deg. C ambient as long as Tj does not exceed 150 deg. C. I can ask the device engineers if they have specs. at Ta = -55 deg. C. I  don't see a similar device with a wider Op. Temp range or with specs over the -55 to +150 deg. C temp range.

    You are correct with your interpretation of the temperatuer specifications.  We have an automotive grade of teh devcie but it is still specified over the same range so that will not help you at -55C.  We do have a team that responds to requests such as yours to determine if the part can be released with an EP version...to this end I would need to collect some basic information regarding this opportunity.  Company name, targeted end equipment, application, how many units per year for teh EP device yo expect to consume, target price, sample date.  If you are willing to provide that information so the team can consider creating the EP version please reply with your details to my direct email...in that way we keep your company information out of the public forum...I will foreard teh information as asoon as I recieve it.

    It's the -55 that is the major concern - high temp is not an issue. Is there a set of key parameters I can send you that would allow me to know my design would work at -55?

    From what I see in the Data Sheet specs, the device will operate at -55 deg. C but the specs won't be guaranteed however I'll defer to the Apps. folks for this device for tthe final word.

  • Hey Mayrim,

    The 193 has less gain than the 195 - we are moving from the 193-EP because of this. How can the data sheet say -55 but the specs won't be guaranteed - this causes a lot of confusion? Sounds like there is no -55C part with the specs of the 195?

    I did realize that I recommended the INA193A-EP (20V/V) when you actually needed a INA-EP (100V/V) after I posted the answer for your question in the forum. I didn't want to continue posting without finding out the entire background of these parts.

    Once I realized you needed the 100V/V gain I immediately though in recommending you the INA195A-EP but it turns out the INA195EP is listed on the datasheet but I cannot find it in our website and I am not able to confirm if this device is orderable. I'd been working in conjunction with Ed Mullins trying to contact the HIREL apps engineers that support these types of products. I'm expecting that we will receive information from them by tomorrow.

    The guaranteed specs are only the ones that are specified over temperature in the datasheet. INA193-EP version is currently available and their specs are guarantee at -55C but it doesn't support the gain that you need. Question: You can use an opamp to increase the gain in your design? If so, we can probably find an EP opamp and you can use it in conjunction with INA193-EP and obtain the 100V/V gain needed.

    The INA193A-EP datasheet is incorrect in listing that -EP versions are available for the INA195A. We will get this fixed. However, we can also look to release the INA195A in EP grade to give you -55C guarantee. If you would like to explore this option, please email me at c-hadsell2@ti.com.
