Hello Madhusudan,
I am not certain the exact sort of protection your application requires. But if it is one where the voltage needs to be clamped if it exceeds 250 V peak, then a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode may be applicable. You can view information about TVS diodes on the Littelfuse website:
http://www.littelfuse.com/products/tvs-diodes.aspx
They offer a variety of over-voltage protection devices. Other manufacturers provide similar products.
Do review the TVS device specifications to make sure the leakage current, capacitance, etc, are compatible with your precision current source circuit.

Dear Mr. Thomas,
Here with I am attaching the output stage diagram for which output shall be protected from accidental shortcircuits to the 240 VAC lines. The circuit diagram was sent to you thru separate email.
Kindly let me know , how can i attach a pdf file to this post?
regards,
B. Madhusudan
Hi Madhusudan,
I don't think that a pdf can be directly attached. I usually copy the selected image into Micrsoft Paint and save it with the .png or .tif extensions, or Zip the pdf and then attach it. You select the Options tab shown above to attach the file.
Did you send the schematic to my email address? I am not seeing it. My email address is:
