Spice Model for OPA564

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA564

Hi Thomas, Hi list,

My customer is looking for a spice model of the OPA564.

They plan to use the part in a Power Line Communication Applikation (as recommended for the part)

Do you have something available? -> Preliminary model or a model from a OPA with similar behaviour would be fine (intention is a frist evaluation in simulation)

Thanks for your help

Uli

  • Hi Uli,

I just received the new OPA564 simulation model from the model builder today. Since I just received it I haven't had an opportunity to test it yet. If your customer's need is immediate I can send you this model with the understanding that it is "preliminary" at this point. That said, they are usually good to go right from the start.

    Regards, Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

thanks for the quick answer. I talked to the customer and it is understood and OK for him.

This would be a normal Spice model (Test file / net list), right?. -> He is using a commercial Spice Simulator and not Tina for his Simulations.

Therefore can you send me the model please?

    Regards, Uli

  • Hi Uli,

Indeed the file contains a PSpice syntax listing. The customer should be able to import it into their particular simulator's macro builder or wizard.

Since this is a preliminary model at this point, I will send it to you directly. It will not be provided for general use until we have had a chance to thoroughly test the model. I would be interested in hearing about the customer's experience with the new OPA564 model once they have performed some simulations.

    Regards, Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

    thanks for the quick answers.

The customer integrated the model already successful in their simulaton.

One question now just came up:

Is it possible to use the model with reliable results using a unipolar VCC?

    Thanks for your help

    Uli

  • Hello Uli,

Yes, the OPA564 Spice model is useable in unipolar, single-supply configurations. Just make sure that all of the pin functions are properly biased for such operation.

I just ran some simpleTINA Spice simulations with the OPA564 model connected in a single-supply configuration and didn't have any problems.

    Regards, Thomas
