OPA2170

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA2170, OPA192, OPA130, OPA172, OPA137

I'm observing that the OPA2170 has Input Differential Over-Voltage Protection Diodes. I do not see these mentioned in the datasheet anywhere.

Can someone confirm this?

I need an amp like this one (low noise, low power, wide supply range) that does not have these diodes.

Thanks.

  • Philip,

Yes, you are correct.  OPAx170 as well as OPAx171 and OPAx172 have back-to-back input protection diodes-see below.

At the end of this year, we plan on introducing 2MHz bandwidth 36V CMOS op amp with no back-to-back input diodes - similar to 10MHz OPA192 currently available.  In the meantime, you may consider 36V supply voltage JFET input OPA130 with no back-to-back input diodes.

  • That information would be useful in the datasheet...

Are there options with lower power than the OPA130?

    Thanks!

  • Phillip,

I agree - that is why our latest OPA172 does include the diagram of the ESD/EOS input protection.

For the lower power, please see OPA137 with 1MHz bandwidth and typical IQ of 220uA.  But remember that lower power means a higher input noise.

  • Thanks, i'll take a look.
