ARC protection SM73201

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SM73201

1) customer evaluate SM73201 for arc protection, power on the equipment, that have instant voltage spiking, that similar with arc , so trigger the protection. how to eliminate unwanted trigger?

2)EVM detect PV string with DC current of 12A. how to do for 50A?

  • 1) One way is to modify the DSP parameters. The DSP parameters can be changed using the Arc Detect GUI tool, which can be downloaded at http://www.ti.com/tool/sm73201-arc-ev. The customer will need collect data under a variety of conditions for the GUI to recommend a new set.

Another way is to tell the RD-195 to stop seaching for arcs when the power on occurs, then have it resume.

    2) The physical limiation is from the current transformer in the reference design. The customer will need to select an appropriate new transformer. Note that this is a significant change in the system - the 15A peak current rating is based on the maximum current of a single PV string; a 50A system is not a single string solution and the customer will need to ensure that UL1699B requirements are met.
