THS4509 Usage

Hi Folks,

 

They have a device with a common mode offset beyond the range of the THS4509 when using +/-2.5 volts supplies.

They want to keep the output centered on 0-volts because the signal needs to be driven down around 15 feet of coax cable and terminates to 50 Ohms to ground.

They were wondering if a simple voltage divider from the test device to the input of the amplifier would work to reduce the common mode voltage.

They are open to suggestions, so any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

     Can you please provide me with the current and proposed circuit configuration that the customer is planning on using. Also, if you can provide me with the details of the input signal it would be very helpful. There are a couple of other options that I can think of:

    1. Use the circuit in an inverting configuration and keep the common mode at GND.

    2. AC couple the input to the opamp. In this case if using a non-inverting configuration make sure there is a termination resistor to GND on the non-inv pin to provide a path for the bias current. In the ac couple case, we should also be mindful of the minimum frequency that needs to be reproduced.

    3. The resistive divider method should also work.
