PGA309 Vout error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA309

Hello,

I am new to the PGA309 setup and am having problems with the output. I set up  the on board emulator to match the current bridge measurements for temperature and pressure. Ran the auto cal. sequence and then ran the simulator while reading Vout. I seem to get a good curve but it is not temperature compensated. For example at 10 deg. C at full load I get 3.9288V and at 200 deg. C at full load I get 4.5476 volts. My interpretation is that at a given load the voltage should stay the same for all temperature ranges.

Thanks,

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

There's a couple possibilities of what could be causing this behavior. To start, verify that the sensor emulator file that you created accurately models the temperature behavior of your sensor. Next, when you created a model file for the auto calibration sequence it should have prompted you to load a pre-cal file. When you create this pre-cal file, step 9 asks for a number of temperature measurement points, here's a shot from the EVM user guide:

Finally, in step 7 of the create pre-cal prompt there is a button which says "Config Temp". When using the sensor emulator, be use that the temperature settings are 15 bit, External, Temp In/GNDa, Continuous Conversion.

  • Thanks, that was the problem. I also wanted to ask if there was training for these systems.
