Hello,

I'm using the THS3201. I'd like to know the  how  and how long it takes to recovery from the overdrive. There is an example at data sheet Page15 Figure 54 (My setup is G=11,RF=470Ohm,Vs=5V.). What determines the length and shape of overdrive? I would appreciate if you have the data about the overdrive and let me know.

    Hello,

       Unfortunately we do not have access to the recovery from overdrive data as this is quite an old part.

    With regards to overload recovery time, it is highly dependent on the internal design of the part as well as the underlying silicon process on which the amplifier is built. Factors such as amplifier gain and magnitude of output load can have an effect but these are 2nd and 3rd order effects. In a nutshell if an amplifier has been designed to have a specific overload recovery, external factors will not have a huge effect on improving/degrading this effect. That being said the temperature of operation and the amount of overload can affect your recovery time as these directly affect some of the process parameters. Clamping cirucits are a good way to minimize the variation of the overload recovery based on the strength of the overload drive.
