INA163 Output Current

I plan to use the VO1 and VO2 outputs and want to verify the current drive capability of these outputs. It's not that I'm drawing much current (2mA) but seems sensible to be sure.

There is a chart in the data sheet of max output voltage vs output current but it's not clear that is applies to all outputs. Does it?

In an attempt to answer the question I looked at the outputs using the PSpice model. None of the outputs reflect the behavior of the above chart, so the model seems unsuitable for this situation.

Thanks

  • Hello Cscott,

Vo1 and Vo2 are not intended to drive a load. They are available so the outputs of A1 and A2 can be monitored (by a very high impedance circuit) to ensure the device is operating linearly. Otherwise their output voltage will decrease (as you already understand), which will introduce error in your measurement. So, the output voltage vs. output current plot in the datasheet is for A3. You are correct...the PSpice model does not correctly model the output voltage vs. output current graph.

  • Hi Pete,

    Thanks for clearing that up!
