Hello,

Our customer use AMC1100 for single-phase three wire system.
Please see the attached file as the connection.

AMC1100 was destroyed when they tested the surge test of +4kV between" V" and Earth(chassis).
Also, AMC1100 was not destroyed when they tested the surge test between "U" and Earth.
There is no electric connection between "V" and Earth.
Could you please let me know about the following questions?

(1) VIOSM
AMC1100 surge immunity is +/- 6000V.
Could you please let me know the corresponding pins of this specification?
Since our test is 4kV surge, I think that  there is no overstress.

(2) Counter measures
Could you please let me know this countermeasure?
We couldn't get the reason of this destroyed yet.
Howeve, we have to take measures to this.

    Could you please include a schematic that shows the electrical connection between GND2 and the "earth (chassis)" node?

    With respect to (1) VIOSM, the test is performed by shorting pins 1 through 4 on the one side and pins 5 though 8 on the other side. Then, the surge is applied between the two resulting nodes. Similar to the image below.

    How many pulses were applied before failure? Could you please provide more information on the shape and duration of the 4 kV pulse applied?

    Hello Jose san,

    Thank you for the prompt reply.
    I will check to our customer and get back to you.

    Also, I think that AMC1100 is used for isolated voltage masurement application.(for example, power inverter, power conditioner)
    And these application need surge test.
    Could you please let me know the any general information or example (application note or other documents) about surge protection if there is?

    I got the schematics between GND2 and Earth.

    Please see the following as more information.
    -Applied pulse at test
    2kV : many time. there isn't problem.
    4kV: U-Earth, two times. there isn't problem
             V-Earth, AMC1100 was destroyed at first applied

    -Surge waveform
       Voltage : 1.2us / 50us
       Current: 8us / 20us
       Same with test conditions of datasheet.
