AMC1200 uses for current detect of low side

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1200

I would like to confirm the use of AMC1200 for the current detect.

Can AMC1200 use the current detect for low side?

I don't know whether it can use for low side or not, because VINN need to connect GND.

If AMC1200 can use, could you please show the recommended circuit?

For example, I attached it. Please ignore the capacitance value and zenner diode.

Best regards,

Atsushi Yamauchi

  • Hello Atsushi Yamauchi-san,

Yes, the AMC1200 can be used for low side as shown below.

Note that the current polarity is reversed from that of the high side case.

  • Dear Jose-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I would like to confirm the power supply.

The circuit you attached has the negative power supply. Does the circuit need the negative supply?
I think it is not needed.
    Is this correct?

  • Hello Atsushi Yamauchi-san,
The AMC1200 can be used for low side regardless of the voltages of the nodes called "HV+" and "HV-". Your application (whether a power inverter, motor drive, solar inverter, etc.) will determine the specific values for "HV+" and "HV-".
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Jose
  • Dear Jose-san,

In the case power supply is single, HV- is GND. The circuit you attached has HV-. In this case, there will be the current flow in lowside and

    shunt resister.

    I attahced the circuit.

In the case of the single supply, is the circuit I attahced correct?

  • Hello Atsushi Yamauchi-san,

Yes, the a system like the one depicted in your schematic would work.
