THS4513-SP Flight Part gain

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS4513-SP, LMH6555, THS4513

I am currently trying to replace a LMH6555 differential amplifier with a Rad hard part for a space mission. The THS4513-SP part says the minimum gain that it can have is 2V/V or 6dB but I am trying to replicate the LMH6555 which has an internal gain of 1.28V/V. I was under the impression the reason the minimum gain was pre-set was that the resistors were internal but when I called your tech support they told me that they are not. Why can't I use this THS4513-SP as a diff amp with a 1.28V/V gain?

  • Hi Lonnie,

You cannot use the THS4513-SP as a diff amp with a 1.28V/V gain because the part is specified for a minimum gain of 2V/V and a gain value lower than that would make the diff amp unstable. Could you provide us with any more details regarding the schematic of using the LMH6555 being replaced by THS4513-SP? If you are looking for a 1.28V/V gain using the THS4513, could you use a resistive divider ratio of 0.64 at the output of THS4513 to compensate for the additional gain?

    Best Regards,
