How to use THS3095 EVM

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS3095

How to use THS3095 EVM to test its second harmonics distortion and compare to its datasheet specification?

Current design configuration: Non-inverting amp

Rf = 1.96k ohm, Rg = 68.1 ohm (Gain ~25dB)

Input: 23.49MHz @ 1dBm

Can I modify the R4 and R3 same as Rf and Rg above? Then left J1 open to test the op-amp characteristics for the second harmonics?

  • Hello,
    Yes you would change R3 and R4 to 1.15kOhm each to get a non-inverting gain of 2. Leave J1 open and drive the signal from your source through J2. You should check the HD2 performance of your source (function generator) as well to make sure it is not the limiting factor in the measurement. We tend to use low-pass filters in order to improve the source distortion performance.
