INA195 Negative Vsense input

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA195

Hi,

I have a  question.

If Vsense will be negative voltage, is the Vout 0V?

Normally the Vsense is positive, however the Vsense may becomes negative momentarily by the surge in our system.

It is no problem for our system, if  Vout is 0V or fixed.

Best regards,

Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Tomoaki,

The INA195 has different output with inputs below 20mV depending on the VCM voltage and VS voltage.  Our datasheet explains the two behaviors.

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/ina195.pdf

See section 8.4.2.3 in datasheet for

    VSENSE < 20mV, 16v VCM < 0;

    OR VSENSE < 20mV, VS <VCM 80V

    See sections 8.4.2.4 for

    VSENSE < 20 mV, 0 V VCM VS

If this is not clear please let me know.

    Regads,

    Javier

  • Hi Javier,

I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

I saw the Figure.26 and Figure.27 in datasheet.

In this graph, the Vsense is positive voltage.

If Vsense will be from 0V to -18V , will the output voltage  remain 0V and not change?

If less than a predetermined voltage is no problem, but the troubled that there is such as to reverse at a certain voltage.

  • Hi Javier,

I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

I saw the Figure.26 and Figure.27 in datasheet.

In these graphs, the Vsense is positive voltage.

We are supposed to be a momentary negative voltage.

However, it is up to about -10V.

If Vsense will be from 0V to -18V , will the output voltage remain 0V and not change?

If less than a predetermined voltage is no problem, but the troubled that there is such as to reverse at a certain voltage.

    Best regards,

  • Tomoaki,

Sorry for the delay reply as I was on training and vacation.

The issue is that with Vsense under 20mV is not desired and will not give the same result from device to device.

Please take not that that Absolute Maximum ratings for the input common mode are -16V to 80V. Also the Vsense differential voltage max is -18V to 18V.

    Regards,
    Javier
