Hello-
I am having an issue with an XTR 115 breaking into oscillation when doing a step function from 4 to 20 mA. This oscillation can be seen on pin 5, 6, and to a lesser degree, pin 7. I am using a FZT493 as the power transistor and looking at the base, I see a 0-3.5V oscillation at approximately 7 KHz. With the input current set to generate 4mA, the loop appears stable. But when commanded to generate 20 mA, it breaks into oscillation.
I've tried inserting approx 22 ohms between pin 6 and the base of the transistor, but this does not seem to have an impact. I do have compensation on the Vref output consisting of a 10.7 ohm series resistor and a 10uF ceramic capacitor. In fact, this output is clean even though the loop is oscillating. Vreg is not used and is tied to a 1 uF ceramic capacitor. This output is also clean even with the loop oscillating.
At this point I am not sure where to go- Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Jim
