Hello,

Can we use INA250 by +/-18V dual supply?
I believe that we can use it if the reference voltage of other input is -18V.
However, please let me confirm it.

Hi Ryuji,

You can use the INA250 as a dual supply +/-18V. You need to set Vs= 18V and GND = -18V. Also REF should be tied to GND. Please not that this configuration will allow unidirectional operation only.

Also, please note VREFmax is 18V, so avoid higher voltages.

Hi Mayrim,
I had the same question as Ryuji, but, to clarify, can I not use the INA250 on split supplies, i.e., Vs=18V and GND=-18V with REF tied to the center of the two, i.e, COM (between the two supplies) and have the INA250 measure bidirectional current in the my external system with the OUT pin giving a bipolar output (+/-)? My whole system floats, i.e., it's isolated, from earth ground on the +/-18V power supply.

Hi Greg,

Actually my comment about the configuration been unidirectional only is incorrect. Having your lowest potential to -18V (GND), highest potential to 18V(Vs) and REF (mid-supply) to 0V allows you to have bi-directional operation as well. Your configuration should work just fine.

Also I wanted to remind you, as I mention on original post, that the REF pin can only go to 18V. Your setup will work but it is just in the line. Be aware of this.
