Wien bridge Oscillator

Hi, my groupmates and I are designing a low distortion wien bridge oscillator that can vary to 0-1khz and has voltage source of 5v for our project design. Can I ask if you've develop any oscillator that is related to this design and what possible problems that can we encounter? Thank you!

  • Hi Argel,

  • Hi Thomas,

Thank you for the information! How can we compute for the distortion?

  • Hi Argel,

There are too many unknowns in a circuit of this complexity to compute the distortion. The distortion produced in a circuit depend on the circuit design, the particular op amp and other active components being used, and the specific types of passive components in the circuit. Passive components, especially ceramic capacitors, can generate distortion. Simulation models are not capable of providing accurate distortion performance because meaningful distortion behavior is very difficult to include in a model. The tried and true method of determining the distortion is to measure it, and that really is the only way to get an accurate assessment. We use an Audio Precision distortion analyzer and that is a very capable instrument.
