Using INA282 with no power applied

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA282

Hello

I have an application that is a little unorthodox. I am forced to use an INA282 that most of the time will not have power applied to the V+ pin. This has to do with low sleep current and other issues. I have 2 questions;

1) Will the part be damaged with voltage on the input pins without power on the V+ pin. Normally I would say maybe, but since this device can have -14V to +80V on the inputs even when V+ is just 2.5V I was thinking I have a shot.

2) What will be the input impedance (ballpark) of these input pins with no power applied to V+?

Thanks

  • Hello David,
    I have moved your post to the Current Sensing Forum for further support.
  • Hi David,

    1) The common-mode voltage range (CMVR) of this device is independent of its supply voltage (no V+ specific constraints on the inputs specified in "absolute max ratings" section), so it is safe to drive the single-ended inputs (to between -14V and +80V relative to GND) with V+ floating.

    2) Section 9 (first paragraph on page 25) of the datasheet talks specifically about the condition you're referring to - the input leakage with V+ floating is <1uA over entire CMVR.
