INA250 VOUT reacts to IN- only signal

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA250

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. Basically my application is one of monitoring current of course. I also have a part of the circuit that is powered by the same voltage that is put at the input, since the input power can switch polarity I use a bridge rectifier. So far so good...

The +5VDC and VREF (2.5V) are all ok, independant of the polarity of SP1/SP2

But VOUT will change !

If SP2 = +24VDC no problem, VOUT=2.5VDC, but if SP2 is GND, VOUT changes to around 1v ?!?!?

Does anyone has an explaination for this behaviour, and or perhaps have a solution ? I assume it has to do with the INA250 internals...so perhaps someone from TI can comment on this ?

  • Hi Alfred,

Which INA250 are you using? Which gain version?

There are few experiments you can try out to figure out if there is something going on with the INA250:
    1. Measure the differential voltage between IN- and IN+ when SP2 = 0V and SP2= 24V, verify output.
    2. Isolate the INA250 and apply a differential voltage to the inputs, verify the output.
