OPA454 Inverting asymmetrical supplies

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA454

Dear Sir/Madam,

Could you please tell me if there are any issues using the OPA454 with asymmetrical supplies?

V+ = +5V
V- = -35V

VIN = 0 to 3.3V
VOUT = 0 to -29V7

Also would there be a problem is the +5V supply comes up before the -35V supply?

Regards Grant

  • Hi Grant,

    The OPA454 can be configured to use +5/-35 V asymmetrical supplies. The 0 to 3 V input should be within the common-mode voltage range, and the 0 to -27 V within the output swing range. You can see an example of a TINA simulation I ran under those conditions.

    We have not characterized or tested the OPA454 with a timing skew between V+ and V-. In general, it is not a good idea to bring the two supplies up at different times for many op amps. The OPA454 may be okay with your specific timing conditions, but we cannot make any assurances about that.

    Regards, Thomas
