Measuring high intensity 1 microsecond flash

I need to measure the intensity of 1 microsecond LED flashes that are fairly intense.  A box-car integrator seems like the right instrument, and I have tried a Burr-Brown IVC102.  However, it appears to have an error in the range of 15% and I need more precision.  Wrong device?  Budget maximum in the range of $3000.

    If this is an IVC specific question, then you will need to post this in the Precision Amplifier forum - this is the high-speed amplifier forum. One possible solution to your question is to use a high-speed transimpedance amplifier along with a fairly fast ADC10-20MSPS to detect your pulses.
