LM211 comparator with resistive bridge

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV3691, LM211

Dear sir, please answer

I'd like to use LM211 comparator with resistive bridge instead of TLV3691 comparator. Please, see the video. How to chahge the circuit in order to use LM211?

TIA.

Sincerely,

Vladimir Naumenkov

  • Hello Vladimir,

There are a few things you will have to consider.
The TLV3691 is a push-pull output comparator whereas the LM211 is an open collector output.
This means that the output of the LM211 will require a pullup resistor whereas the TLV3691 will not.

You may also need to consider that the TLV3691 has a common mode input range that extends beyond the rails whereas the LM211 can only get within 1.2V of the upper rail and 0.3V of the lower rail.

The TLV3691 also has an internal hysteresis which the LM211 does not have.

The LM211 does have an input offset comparable to the TLV3691, and also can work on the same supply. You will need to determine if the things noted above will limit the functionality of your circuit when switching from TLV3691 to LM211.

    Best,
    Michael
