INA199 Output swing vs output current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA199

Hi Team

Please check my understanding regarding INA199’s output swing vs output current.

This device cannot be used with 5V supply and low output resistance like 1khom because output current can be ~several mA resulting in very narrow output voltage swing. Is that correct? How much input impedance at output of INA199 should be? From the fig. 6 and fig.7, I think the output current have to be limited less than 1mA if 5V supply is use.

Thanks,
Takuma Ito

  • Hi Takuma-san,

In the spec table you can find the data for voltage output swing with a 10k ohm load. If you like to know the value with a different load you should look at Figure 6 and 7 as you correctly pointed out.

The output swing "acceptable value" depends on the application constraints/requirements and what is acceptable for your customer application. With a 5V supply & 1kohm output resistance you are looking at 5mA of current that translate to V+ - 0.25V @25C of output voltage swing, according to Figure 6.
