Buffering the Current Feedback Amplifier

Hi OPAMP Team,

I'm Alice working as TI Korea FAE.

Actually I posted question about "unused channel of current feedback amplifier" in E2E. I have a farther question about that post.

Usually input shorted to GND and then buffering the unused channel of voltage feedback amplifier. How about current feedback amplifier? Current feedback amp is different from voltage feedback amp. Is it okay just buffering the current feedback amp without feedback resistor? Negative input impedance of CFA is very low and output impedance also very low. Just wiring is fine?

Best regards,

ALICE

  • Hello Alice,
You cannot just short the inverting input to the output pin of a CFA. You will have to have a feedback resistor there in order to preserve the stability of the amplifier. The datasheet for the device will specify the minimum value of feedback resistance to be used. You can increase the value of that resistor a little above the specified value but do not go below that value.
