INA200 Power-on state

Hello,

In the datasheet is says that "If RESET is high at power-up, the comparator output comes up high and requires a reset to assume a low state, if appropriate."

However, I want the comparator output so stay low at power-on, until current is too high, but I also neet the laching/reset functionality. How can this be done?

Thanks

Lukas

  • Hi Lukas,

When in transparent mode (RESET pin connected to GND or floarting) the comparator output will be low until there is an overcurrent condition. When in latching mode the comparator output will be high and it needs to be reset, that's just how the device works. If you want to use the latching mode but prefer the comparator output to be low at power-on I believe you need to add a charging capacitor. I believe that you could achieve that with external circuitry but I have never tried this before. For this we need to know the delay time of the device and this information is unknown for me.

Let me discuss with designers and see what they recommend.

    Regards

  • Thank you, yes, a capacitor should fix this. Please let me know if you find out the timing requirements.
