Section 7.5.3 Simple Current Shunt Monitor Usage (No Programming Necessary) of the data sheet indicates the part can be used and a simple current shunt monitor could you please explain the operation? The data sheet is limited on this subject. I need to know how the part will react to a shorted power supply prior to programming.

To be more clear, I need to know how the part will react to over current prior to programming. This part would be so much better if the config register was nonvolatile.

Hi James,

Without programming the device won't be able to measure current and power, so it won't be able to react or detect any over current. You can only measure shunt voltage and bus voltage.
