OPA2134: OPA2134 pre-amplifier design

Part Number: OPA2134
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA134, TINA-TI

Need help calculate an opamp preamplifier stage based on OPA2134 with WEBENCH Designer.

Power supply voltage +12V, Single Supply. Inverting Amplifier. Need set correct Input Voltage Limits, Output Voltage Limits, and find correct input impedance.

This is line in preamplifier, input signals are from consumer audio electronics line out (music centers, CD players, portable MP3 Players, Mini CD Hi-Fi Systems, iPad, iPhone, etc)

  • Hello,

Please understand that most of our engineers are out for the holidays. It is most likely that we won't address your question until early January 2017.
  • Hi Wilson,

I recommend taking a look at our TI Precision Lab training videos. The videos discuss input/output limitations of amplifiers and low distortion design which I think will address most of your concerns.

    Thank you,

  • What should be Webench settings to calculate General inverting opamp, single supply 12V, which should accept and handle without distortion peaks up to ± 5V?

  • Hello Wilson,

To be in the linear operating region of the amplifier the output should be kept between 2.2V and 9.5V for a 600 ohm load. For the output swing specification using different loads please see the Voltage Output specification on page 6 of the OPA134 datasheet. Since you are using a single supply, you must also watch out for the common mode voltage specification of the amplifier. I recommend watching our TI Precision Lab videos on Low Distortion Design and Input/Output Limitations.

I also recommend downloading our free simulation tool TINA-TI to help you quickly design and test your circuit.

    Thank you,

    Tim Claycomb
