Input Sensitivity of the opamp

Hi,

I need to measure a voltage from a device in the range of 85 uV with an accuracy of 5uV. As my measuring instrument is not capable of measuring this low voltage, my plan is to have an op-amp with a known gain between my device under test and my measuring instrument. How should check my opamp have the sensitivity to these low voltage. Which parameter play the major role?

  • Hi Christin,

Offset voltage, input bias current, component values, and component tolerances will be the most likely factors that will contribute error to your system. Also depending on what supply voltages you are using and the amplifier you choose, input common mode voltage and output swing limitations of an amplifier may cause some issues.

I recommend watching our TI Precision Lab training videos to help understand what may cause errors in your system.

    Thank you,
